you are not going to have any side affects if you quit and you have been taking it for less than a month. You have not been on it long enough. You may experience more anxiety and have a hard time sleeping. As lame as it may sound all you have to do is work out and things will get better. Trust me – I know and have had alot of experience with all of this.

IF you are that unsure of your Dr see another one. You have NOT taken as prescribed so you will, more than likely, have few if any side effects. NEVER TOO LATE!!

Let your psychiatrist know exactly what you are feeling and exactly how often you are taking the medicine. Then follow his advice. Don’t try taking your medication into your own hands, believe me its never that simple.
And most anti-anxiety medications are somewhat addictive if you have the addictive gene (especially Valium). If this is a serious concern for you, let your psychiatrist know.

WELL, YOU HAVE TO TAKE I DOSEAGE LESS ..EVERY 5-7 DAYS .. LIKE SAY YOU ARE ON “XANAX” 1MG 3 TIMES DAY.. 1 WEEK TAKE 1 MG 2 TIMES A DAY.. 2 WEEK TAKE 1 MG 1 TIMES A DAY .. 3 WEEK TAKE HALF – OF- 1MG
DAY .. 4 WEEK JUST STOP.

Xanax is a miracle drug..for sure. I was taking 1. mg daily…but i cut it in half and was taking .50 twice a day. I took it for more than a year…so to get off of it safely…I started cutting it down very very slowly as to no to have a seizure…which is common with xanax…So…If you are only taking .50 daily…then the way to ween off carefully, would to start cutting that in half…and then cut one of the halves in half..like you are taking three fourths of the .50 pill…do that for a week…then…go to .25 and .25……for about another week…then…cut the one fourth in half…but leave the other one at .25…then…cut the one in the morning down also…to half of that…just keep cutting them down very slowly..It took me about three months and I am off of them and totally free…and i have a prescription of them if I need them..just to fall back on..and every so rarely, I have a fourth of one to sleep…You can do it and right now is a good time for you..

Ween your self off of them. Every week or every couple of days take a lesser dose. Talk to your doctor first

You may not feel like you are addictive. However it is an addictive medicine along with valium. The first 5 days are the worst maybe 7, You need to find a place where you can detox safely. Like a Mental Health in patient facility. This is the quickest and safest way to detox from this medicine. Many doctors not knowing the long term effects will put a client on them and well the client is the one with more anxiety. Have you tired an SSRI? like paxil, prozac, zoloft things like this. If you need something for sudden on set there are non addictive ones. You really need to seek some medical attention before stopping this medicaiton.

To quit xanax your doctor needs to slowly reduce your dose. In your case you only take it on and off for less than a month, so you should have little or no side effects when stopping. You may want to discuss this with your doctor further because Valium is in the same class of drugs as Xanax known as BENZODIAZEPINES and they all will have side effects that are similar to one another. If you can find anything else to do besides taking them, I highly recommend it. Excercise like yoga three times a week can be very helpful. The withdrawal from these drugs can outweigh the help that they give (I’m speaking from personal experience). You won’t know that you are addicted until you come off of them and believe me it’s awful. Take a look at this site: http://www.benzo.org.uk/ it’s pretty informative.

First of all it’s never too late to stop using a medication. If you’re taking it once or twice a day you’ll have to stay on it longer than if you’re taking it once or twice a week. Basically cut your dose in half for the first week, then in half again and wean yourself off slowly. If you have a diagnosed anxiety disorder it is not advisable for you to go off the xanax without another drug in it’s place, you’ll be making yourself worse off. Most importantly, if you’re worried about taking the advice of strangers (like me), go to your local Walgreen’s or cvs and speak with a pharmacist. You have to wean yourself off these types of drugs slowly so as not to shock your system.

Try breaking the pills in half when you need to take it. I used to have to take it years ago and they tried me on Valium too. The Valium gave me a hangover type feeling that I did not like so I just took smaller doses of the xanax.
