Posted by admin on Monday, January 18th, 2010

I get pneumonia frequently and they usually give me Promethazine w/ Codeine 10-6.25 for my cough. This time they prescribed Promethazine VC w/ Codeine 10-5-6.25 instead. What is the difference and what does the “VC” mean?

VC stands for the addition of a decongestant- so you have promethazine which is an antihistamine and codeine an opiod all in one. Sounds like it may work for you. Be careful with driving until you get used to their effect. It may also affect your sleep patterns.
