Neurontin, like anything else, can be abused. If overdosed it can be dangerous. This med is started in small doses and worked up to the desired (by a physician) dose. It is not a drug of choice for abuse, however, because it works with the brains neuroreceptors it isn’t to be disregarded. Some people will try to use and abuse anything they can!

Neurontin (gabapentin) is not a drug of abuse any more than an antibiotic or tylenol. It has no street value, and it is neither scheduled by the DEA nor controlled. People cannot use that drug to get high.
Perhaps you have confused it with Lyrica (pregabalin), which is used for a lot of the same conditions, notably, peripheral neuropathy and seizures (and, interestingly, fibromyalgia), and has been given the lowest classification of any scheduled drug, CV (schedule five) because a few volunteers got a slight buzz from it. But it too is not abused or known by the illicit drug community as a drug to get high with, and thus also has no black market and no street value.
