What Can You Do About A Meth Apartment?

Posted by admin on Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

My husband and I moved into an apartment 3 months ago. Ever since we moved in we have both been sick. My husband has had serious hives for the past 2 months. We really suspect that our apartment has been used as a meth lab in the past. The apartment stinks horrible. It burns your eyes and throat just to be in it. What are some other signs of meth labs? Also, if it has been a meth lab, is any of our stuff salageable? or will everything have to be thrown away?

call the police.

maybe you should hire a professional cleaning crew to come in and clean it thoroughly. you should also contact your landlord and complain. the apartment should have been cleaned before you moved in.

You need to contact your local housing authority. I would also inform your landlord. It can be very dangerous for you to be there, I’d get out right away. Also, keep track of your symptoms and such in case you need to see a doctor. I’m not sure about your belongings…I’d try searching for a website that can give you more information on that. This is a big problem and I’m sure there had to be some more information for you out there somewhere.

If I were you, I would call the police and ask if there have been any arrests made in your apt. Ask your landlord. Then I would call HASMAT and ask them what to do.

Send a certified letter to the landlord stating your immediate health issues. Get the heck out! It’s not worth being sick!

Definately go see a doctor…the problems could be from what you suspect..but it could also be from mold spores growing between the walls. Get medical help, keep all records of illnesses and doctor visits, and contact your landlord right away.

You need to call the health department (if from California) and if they find anything they will help you. Save all your medical receipts. If your seriously ill go to the ER. Then get a lawyer because meth labs need to be cleaned up properly and if the owner of the apartment knew but did not clean it up properly you have a case. If they did not know they will just have to clean it up. Depends on Police records and such. Good luck to you.

Move out……
