Why Should Marijuana Be Legalized Because Of Its Health Effects?
Obviosly, marijuana has quite a few positives. However, I just want to discuss the medical effects of marijuana. There already is a legal drug called Marinol which contains THC. Why should we legalize marijuana then, if people that REALLY need it already have an alternative?

It really is a joke that marijuana is not legal. I know a few people who have died from direct results of alcohol consumption, and it’s legal. Also, all these prescription drugs out there have so many harmful side effects. I’d rather feel a little stupid when I wake up after using marijuana than have diarrhea or kidney failure after taking a prescription drug. I do believe that Medical Marijuana is slowly going to be legalised all around the nation. It’s just going to take time. :]
After Traveling to The Netherlands and Europe (in general) I see how it has to do with taxation than anything else! I think that the Dutch are smart, if you tax and control it’s legal possession and point of sale it will not only make profit but eliminate a large portion of the incarcerated. It really has to do with ignorance on the US Governments part! They saw Mexican immigrants using marijuana and got scared. The US put it into Ban before any scientific research was done by the government! It is really an imbarrasing part of US history!

anyways…marijuana is not illegal bc it is harmful or bad or dangerous or violent…its illegal bc in the 1930s a lumber tycoon was threatend by the hemp industry so he started a slander against the plant and said it made a kid violent and made him kill his family….lik wtf…weed does the exact opposite. it make u an intellect. a thinker. the world is clear and joyous.
marijuana shld b legalized bc there isnt a prob with it. alcohol shld be prohibited bc it is sooo harmful and dangerous. weed shld b legal bc is doesnt do any harm and is non addictive. we shld serve dime bags instead of pints at sports bars

Well I first wanted to comment that while Marinol contains THC, andTHC by itself is a really weak drug.
The reason that Marijuana gets a person high so fast is because it is smoked. It goes from the lungs, to the blood, to the brain in matter of seconds.
The THC in Marinol takes a while to be absorbed in the stomach so it is MUCH weaker than regular marijuana. But I guess a plus to that is we do not get high from taking Marinol.
So while we have an alternative, it is not that great of an alternative. If we can make a drug as potent as smoked marijuana than I would say marijuana should not be legalized.
(And no I do not recreationally use marijuana, I have never done drugs in my life. I am 19.)
The poison known as alcohol is legal. Marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, so it’s a joke that marijuana is illegal.
most ins co’s won’t prescribe marinol to anyone who is not terminal.
so its not an alternative.
taxation…get us out of all the debt we ever wanted to…except we would spend it on other stuff…
