What Is The Difference Between All The Different Types Of Marijuana?

Posted by admin on Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

There are so many different types, such as green marijuana, brown marijuana, orange marijuana, blue marijuana, and even purple marijuana. What’s the difference between all these types? Is one supposed to taste better than the other or something? And which one is the best?

There is one species of marijuana (cannabis sativa), and about 5 subspecies: sativa dominant, indica, african, skunk, and ruderalis. All marijuana comes from the female flowers of any of these plants, and they all have the same botanical parts
In those species it is divided into strains, which all have the same botany, but have asthetic difference like different colours, densities, hair lengths, sizes, smells ect.
Think of it like this related to people: you have a population or species (human), then subpecies (races), then strains (families)
the only difference between them all is the genetic traits of -strains-, which change what each weed looks and feels like.
The potency is from a natural hormone in all types of cannabis, called THC – the amount of THC in each plant is dependant on the parent plants they came from and the growing conditions (aka nature and nurture), exactly like it is with everything else thats alive on this planet.
The best type is up for debate, since new types are created each year

There’s actually a rather large difference, I speak from first hand knowledge, I am 17 years old and have been smoking for a little over 4 years (Massachusetts). Depending on the type of marijuana buds, there is a difference in THC potency (THC is the main psychoactive chemical in pot). The THC doesn’t refer to how many milligrams of THC are in one gram, but how strong it is. Then along side with potency some strains have a high THC to bud ratio, like the higher rated buds including “Green Crack”, “Big Bud” “Train Wreck”, “Super Skunk (1 & 2), etc.
See, marijuana originates from Marijuana Sativa, which use is dated back to The third millenium BCE, since its evolution the potency has increased, and there is now marijuana sativa, and marijuana indica. Indica properties induce good medical purposes, as in losing feelings of pain, and a relaxing high, where as Sativa produces a more active high, and the Sativa plants have better fibrous qualities which can be made for making Hempcrete (natural concrete stronger and cheaper than concrete) Textiles (Any cloth product) Paper, and biodegradable plastic. The seeds of all plants can also be used for a fuel source, because 35% of the marijuana seeds weight is a good concentration of amino acids, which can be burned for fuel and is one of the best sources of every vitamin and daily requirements needed. Marijuana now a days is not either sativa or indica, they have been cross bred for quite some time so they can be like a 60 : 40 ratio or something like that. Many believe White Widow is the best strain of marijuana, it is a very good strain but the top rated buds are Purple Kush (Or master kush and most other kush’s) or Purple Haze (Without acid laced)
If anyone needs to know anything about marijuana try to leave a message for me somehow here I will answer any question I’m going to be an active marijuana activist along side the job I’m in training for (Yes, I’m in High School) or simply put a question under a marijuana section titled “This question is for the 420King” and I’ll find it at some point.

marijuana is green, sometimes it comes in purples but this is due to the same reasons leaves change color in the fall. The purple pot you may see does not mean it is stronger or more flavorful. It is a simple marketing strategy.
Almost all cannabis can be tricked in to turning purple by lowering the temperatures while its flowering. But this mostly occurs on the leaf of the plant and not the finished product. On the rare occasion a grower/breeder may find a plant that truly has purple tendencies due to genetics. At some point a breeder has used this plant as a parent or mother to create offspring that will produce purple pot. Or they may just take clones of the special original plant and it gets traded among the growing community. Most of the strains you will find it coffee shops are from chosen clones.
There really is no such thing as pot strains this day.. They are 99% clones of original plants that a grower found and kept. The seeds that are for sale are very rarely true breeding strains and the buds for sale are even less likely to be a true breed. The seeds one would obtain to grow cannabis would be at best a loosly defined hybrid. I say loosely because the parents of these hybrids were most likely not true breeding IBL specimens.
The pot world is mostly a buncha Mutts .. The prettiest mutts survive and are put in to breeding programs by aspiring breeders/sellers. These programs usually result in nothing but more mixup of the original landraces genetics.http://www.420magazine.com/forums/plant-…
here is a copy of one of the original breeders in the 80′s “menu” This is when they were working with real landraces and they hybrids that resulted showed true hybrid vigor.
skunk #1
haze
northern lights
durban poison
blueberry and a few more are pretty much the only real strains created by man. The rest are the offspring of choice mutts resulting in a somewhat consistent plant
In short, most any name you hear is most likely some made up bullshit that is called something different 50 miles away.
Here is a list of all the active seed makers in the world and the mutts they have to offer http://www.seedboutique.com/store/

there really isn’t any differences to the types but sometimes you can add things to the weed plant while it is growing to change its color or the taste of it when you smoke it. it all depends on what you like the best, like if you add grape or pineapple or other flavorings to it while it is growing then it could absorb color and taste. green is the regular color of a weed plant so it depends on what you like and what kind of bud it is and were it comes from.

umm i don’t know about different colors..
But i do know about weed.
Different types of green just depend on the plant and conditions its grown in.
For example a chemically grown plant from a schwag seedhttp://media.urbandictionary.com/image/l…
is a lot less of a high and not nearly as good as a kush plant grown in south americahttp://www.londonseedcentre.co.uk/acatal…
(mouth watering looking at that plant)

well there is a difference brown weed is **** the others you mentioned are all good it takes less of some to get you high more of others and the highs are different the best in my opinion is the blue or commonly called blueberry

Different names, different strains of the species, different potency. It’s all gravy, except for the brown s**t.

They are just different varieties, like apples.
They all have different levels of THC (what actually gets you high)

Yes it determines how high you get. Thoughs arent “real” names; it’s just the names dealers call em and stuff. Like there is like a billion names out there

the high and yes taste also. best high i get is from kush

how high you get

there are several differences, including its levels of THC, what climate it grows in, the species, how tall the plant will be, the color of the flowers, and the length of its flowering period. the only difference you will experience is that some types produce stronger highs than others, due to the difference in THC levels.
hope this helped

ok for example brown marijuana is a sign of low quality and keep this in mind marijuana is not just one plant there are many types of marijuana broke down to 2 different types an indica which gives you a body “high” and sativa which gives you a “head high” and also there are many different strains of marijuana that all give similar effects but the reason wh ythey name a lot of different marijuanas is because they can both contain sativa and indica so for example all those different colors are just different strains and each strain has their own strain name and higher quality marijuana and lower can be identified by all these
-Smell
-Color (purple or light green = good darker green to brown bad)
-THC You can look with a magnafine glass to see these little crystals that is the active ingrediant that gives you the high)

not really any diffrence besides color but it is all about value a rich guy wants to be seen with blue marijuana because its the most expensive therefor it shows his wealth because its so rare ect
