Can It Be Deadly To Consume Lorazepam 16 Hours Before Consuming Alcohol?
I take Lorazepam and prozac. I have no problem drinking and taking prozac, I have always done fine. However, at midnight, last night, I took a lorazapam tablet for anxiety. Tonight I have a bachelor party where I intend to drink starting at 7pm. Will the fact that I took Lorazepam within 16 hours cause serious problems?

You should be ok if it’s going to be 16 hours between taking Lorazepam and the drinking. Do not take the medication the rest of the day or tonight after you have been drinking.
If you take the Lorazepam within a couple hours of drinking, it could have serious side affects. It will intensify side effects of the alcohol, such as the dizziness sleepiness and confusion. So, if you plan on drinking tonight, then just don’t take your medication today. Then go back on it tomorrow. You should be ok.
Best of luck. Hope I helped.
It depends how much you are taking, I mean in milligrams, generally its in 2mg strength. Lorazepam gives a tranquillizer effect and it also take care of anxiety. It acts for 6-7 hrs roughly. So, it will not cause any problem if take drink with it, but one important thing that alcohol might increase your anxiety symptoms next day. Take care and have a nice day.
The half life of the major metabolite of lorazepam is 18 hrs, which means in 18 hrs, half of the medication will be out of your system. So it’s still a definite risk…not of death (unlikely, unless were combining it with a bunch of other narcotics), but it could cause extra drowsiness and side effects. Proceed with caution.
Lorazepam (Ativan) is terrific for anti-anxiety. I take if for panic attacks. That said, 16 hours is probably enough elapsed time to drink a prudent amount of alcohol. You don’t have to drink just because of the type of party. My suggestion would be you contact the pharmacist who filled your prescription and get their advice.
Most of the Lorazepam will be out system by 7pm, my wife used to take Lorazepam and Prozac, she now takes Sertraline and does not need the Lorazepam, when my wife took Lorazepam with Alcohol it did make her a bit more drunk, so don’t drink too much.
All drugs are toxic, are dangerous, shorten one’s life span, and only help treat symptoms, not the cause. Since you have already ingested the drugs, you might as well bring on the Alcohol. You are already on a path to distruction. Be careful.
always check with your pharmacist or carefully read the warnings that came with your prescription. mixing alcohol and drugs can be a deadly cocktail – remember the celebreties that did that? they’re gone now and you want to be VERY careful.
Nope. I try not to take one the same day as I’m going to drink, because sometimes it makes me have mood swings to sad/bad…but 16 hours is plenty of time for it to be completely out of your system. Go have fun.
Probably not in that length of time but be careful taking so much medication with alcohol.
It doesn’t for me. Just try not to go too overboard with the drinking.
NO no no, i take it everyday and drink and it doesn’t affect me.
no way read the folder that comes with your meds,
well, it probably won’t kill you.
