How Long Do I Have To Pump And Dump After Taking Klonopin?

Posted by admin on Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

I had a panic attack about an hour ago. I was taking klonopin as needed before my pregnancy, I didn’t need it until today. I am breastfeeding and I know it can be seriously harmful if baby gets any of it. How long do I need to pump and dump my milk?
I tried to call my doctor, but I just got a recording. Any advice would be nice!

im not quite sure on that, if you have a lactation consultant call an ask. if your scared on giving your baby the milk if you have any stored up use that until you can get ahold of someone. from what my lactation consultant told me it takes whatever you drink eat or take pill wise 6 hrs to get to your milk. if your pill only last a little while i think your baby should be fine cause by then the effects of the medicine would be gone, but im not 100% sure on that. good luck.

I don’t think you should take any medicine while breastfeeding.I have a close friend who harmed her baby while taking allergy medicine.I would just be very cautious and hold off until you speak with your doctor.Everyone has there own opinion and knowledge but I wouldn’t breastfeeded until you speak with a health professional..

you should not be using klonopin if you are breastfeeding, it is passed thought he mothers milk to the baby so there is no pump and dump.

To be safe, pump and dump until you talk to your Doctor.
Make sure to sterilize your pump completely before giving your baby the milk.

Ten minuets.
