Since Diazepam Can Absorb Into Plastic, what Should I Store It In?

Posted by admin on Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Most medications are usually stored in plastic bottles, but since Diazepam can absorb into plastic, what should I use to store it in that is airtight, waterproof and not plastic?
Thanks.

Most people store diazepam in standard plastic bottles at room temperature. There is rarely any alteration of the pill when stored in the common manner. If you keep the medication in high temperature for an extended time, perhaps the pills will be absorbed by the plastic. If this really bothers you, then glass containers, titanium coated containers or gold plated containers may be a solution for you.

How about glass?

It won’t absorb into plastic rapidly enough to affect it’s safety or potency. In fact, there is little measurable difference between a fresh batch in a plastic bottle and one that’s been in the bottle for a year.
Your best bet with diazepam, as with any other medication, is to pay attention to the expiration date, and discard any that are outdated.

glass! the old way.
