Any dose above what is prescribed can be dangerous. Your friend needs professional help. You’re doing a good job by being there, and concerned for her.

Cymbalta isn’t particularly lethal and the doctor knows that, that’s why he’s treating her with it. I wouldn’t be worried about a Cymbalta overdose, it might damage some organs and she’ll puke a lot if she overdoses but I doubt she’ll die. However, its good that you’re concerned about her, just make sure she isn’t hoarding pills or buying a gun or anything.

she/he needs help asap before something happens if isn’t cymbalta they will try something else you need to get her to an er immediatlely so they can get them the help they need.

Cymbalta is not an SSRI, and would probably not kill her to take her entire bottle – it certainly won’t be good for her, but won’t be lethal.
If she was recently put on the med, she should be watched because as soon as an antidepressant begins working, it will often lift a severely depressed person out from their depression from feeling numb and too horrid to attempt suicide to feeling like they’re ready to take action towards harming him or herself. This is one of the reasons why they say that antidepressants cause suicide – it takes a long time for an antidepressant to work – and they do not cure depression – they lift you up enough so you can make yourself better in therapy. She could kill herself by taking Tylenol easier than with Cymbalta.
Your friend is lucky to have you – if you believe she has a plan and intent to kill herself, encourage her to admit herself to a hospital or call 911.

if she really wanted to die she would have already done it.instead of thinkin that she is losing her b/f she should try to focus on wat they have see the issues and try to make them work killing herself isnt helping anything then she will lose him forreal

I know you’re trying to help her, by limiting her pill intake; but if she really wanted to commit suicide she would find other ways, and she could always purchase a over the counter drug that she could kill herself with. If I was you, I would tell her psychiatrist immediately, she needs to be inpatient, or in a day program…I’m no professional, therefore I think contacting her physician is her best bet.

Drug companies, pharmacies and doctors prescribe only a certain amount of SSRI’s at a time for a reason.
If she took her month’s supply she probably wouldn’t die (although there’s always a chance) she would have the worst anxiety attack she’s ever known though. It could do permanant damage to her kidneys and liver too. So she would probably live, but just be really sick physically after trying to OD on them.
If anyone threatens suicide, call the local crisis center in the area you live and let them know. Take it from there.
Keep in mind that those who threaten to do it, don’t want to…they want either the attention it brings on or for someone to help them solve their problems instantly (which is usually an impossiblity).
Those who DO truly want to die, won’t say anything because they don’t want anyone to stop them.
Be a good shoulder to cry on and don’t worry about her threats. I would lay money on it being simply a negative attention seeking behavior.
