Well you should never mix alcohol with benzos, but as ling s your doctor knew you were on the ativan and he gave you the klonopin without any instructions then you should be fine to start taking them, but not if your going to be drinking. You have to be careful with that, when you mix the two it could be fatal. Alot of people dont realize that. ut benzos are different they do not stay in your system for too long. Medications like paxil, and prozac which are used for anxiety and depression stay in your stayem for a liong time, it takes about a month for them to start working, so it takes about a month for them to leave the system so if you go from paxil, to say lexapro then you need to wait a month before you take the lexapro. But I dont thinnk you have to wait at all with benzos because you need them and you should take them, but to be on the safe side call a local pharmacy preferably yours and ask them for help, if their not open then call a 24 hour one and they will be abke to give you an exact answer, thats what they do they know all that kind of stuff. Good luck.
If you drank last night then your fine, taking the klonopin today. If you took ativan, wait about 8-10 hours before taking the klonopin. You need to give the ativan some time to metabolize and be eliminated before you ingest the klonopin.
Do not mix alcohol with either of the two meds, as it can increase your risk of affecting your ability to breathe.
Drowsiness is a side effect of these types of meds, so I would expect you to be tired after taking them. This side effect usually abates after you develop a tolerance to the meds.
