I take it as a preventative migraine medication. It did take about 3 weeks for it to kick in and start reducing the frequency of my migraines, but once it did, it has been great. Instead of getting 3-5 migraines per week, I get about 3-4 per month now. You just need to be patient. Also, 20mg is a pretty low dose. If it has not started to relieve your pain after two weeks, you may need to consider stepping up the dose. Your doctor will be able to help you do this. There is one annoying side effect of this medication though...it can cause increased appetite and weight gain. Sometimes, I am so hungry that I want to pull up a chair in front of the refrigerator and start eating!
