Ambien can have some side effects…eating or driving without recollection, etc.. Tell her to stop before she hurts someone or herself. If that doesn’t work, call her Doctor and let him/her know what’s going on. You may save your sister’s life. kjl

Ambien is not a good drug to use recreationally. It causes memory loss and when combined with alcohol can cause a person to do really stupid things and remember nothing about it.
Make sure she doesn’t do it alone. I’m speaking from experience. I did the same thing once and my girlfriend is the only reason I didn’t end up in jail or worse that night.

mixing medicines with alcohol is not such a good idea. Drinking alcohol with Ambien will increase drowsiness and dizziness which could be dangerous and lead to some serious complication.. Ambien affects chemicals in your brain that may become unbalanced and cause insomnia and this medicine belongs to a class of drugs called hypnotics or sleep medications. Mixing it with alcohol can cause serious problems in your brain.

There is not a great risk when mixing Ambien and alcohol in terms of interactions. However, acute injury due to poor judgment, amnesia and incoordination may lead to serious physical injuries. The greater issue here is drug dependence. “Enhance” is addict code for “get high.” She is most likely not seeking sleep but euphoria. She will not get this from this combination. Even benzos, such as Xanax and Valium, which are much more potent and less selective in the brain regions they efffect will not produce euphoria when mixed with alcohol. Just amplified sedation and ultimately hypnosis. In sum, a glass or two of wine with Ambien would not be my focus. I would instead ask what is she seeking if not sleep, and what is she feeling that she needs this cocktail to avoid.

This article says that alcohol does not increase the effectiveness of Ambien, Ambien increases the effects of alcohol and they aren’t pretty.
It also says that some people go through withdrawal when they stop taking Ambien abruptly instead of doing it like the doctor tells you.
You should be worried that she talks as if she is playing around with a medication that can have bad consequences if it is abused.
If she does this, you should call her doctor and tell him/her what she is doing. He may not speak with you, but he should be willing to listen. This is serious stuff.
